Inaugural AAS-in-Asia ended successfully in Singapore. アジア初の全米アジア学会終了。

National University of Singapore (NUS) successfully hosted its first ever AAS (Association of Asian Studies) outside of the US for the first time in Asia!  The roundtable moderated by Prof Ted Bestor from Harvard was fascinating enough to challenge what the "heritage" means to you.  Issues of politics, public/collective/individual history, and legacy of colonialism became apparent as the issues and challenages to think about this. Very interesring!   It's going to be hosted in Taiwan next year and then in Kyoto in 2016!  So nice that these chances would encourage more participations by scholars from both the US and Asia.

全米アジア学会が、本拠地のアメリカから初めて離れてシンガポールで開催されました。今年の会場はシンガポール国立大学。最終日を飾ったのが、テッド・ベスター教授司会によるパネルディスカッションでした。「ヘリテージ」とはいったい何を意味するのか。面白いきっかけとなりました。このAASのアジア版は、来年は台湾で、再来年は京都で開催されるそう。
